Nothing new; we are the same people and the same problems. At home and abroad—at present it is a headache everywhere. Aided by advancement of science actually how far we are civilized? When we ask this question within we can not but are pessimists. Of course there is every chance of being optimists, since the distance among the countries has been minimized to a great extent and we can safely arrive anywhere within a very short period.
O no, the things are not so easy. Can we believe each other at home? No more ever before. Then how can we expect, others abroad? In the early days, our emotional minds were not so very disheartening. Strangely, only a few years earlier we loved each other, didn’t we? Before Second World War and more precisely, just before the awkward beginning of most unwanted periods of terrorism, we could co-operate and sympathize at large to make any situation hale and hearty. There was no question of being as wild as we might be thought of.
Unfortunately, after the said War the societies around the world have largely disapproved social relations remain in tact. Disintegration at every step has gradually become our ultimate gain. As we face the competitive world around, we turn wild, to a great extent, as a situation demands. Human values are simply in jeopardy. Often we run a risk for nothing. Oh! Does all this concern anything with democracy? Yes, by all means. Without being basically good, we can never expect fruits of democracy tasty, sweet and sour well-balanced.
See, how grimly suffers our friends in America paying the price of democracy! Just think about the devastation of 11 September 2001 and the incidents thereafter in Iraq and keeping balance in the world around. Their image has been simply blurred. I don’t know how far Mr. B. H. Obama, the Hon’ble President will be able to revitalize every situation the country has long been facing. See-saw of war and peace among the Americans is of ruthless anxiety. Since there is Mr. Obama, the exception in the fore, we can hope for the best.
Again, how our beloved Indian succumb under tremendous pressure all the while in the name of democracy! We enjoy life as the Americans do writing, publishing and doing whatever we think wise. We are, no doubt, divinely blessed since independence in 1947. There is no obstruction to any of our action. But our stalwart leaders are always thinking otherwise.
The people in general are greatly exploited everywhere, specially, in the villages. They are the innocent believers of underdone India. The sober mind of most the Indian, irrespective of rich and poor, educated and illiterate, are simply helpless before any terrorist action. Even after the destruction of the hotels like Taj and Trident of Mumbai the gossips around have nothing to do counteracting attacks waiting for. What more do we expect in the next month during country-wide IPL of glorious cricket and Parliamentary Election?
And that again with the great aspiration of democracy how desperately Pakistan and Bangladesh keep going. The rebel of BDR against the Army in the motherland was almost on the verge of ruin dethroning democracy leaving Sekh Hasina in the lurch. How very valuable lives were to sacrifice to protect democracy sound and steady! Democracy seldom pays for nothing to keep itself alive.
And what about our Pakistani friends? The brave Taliban are there to teach the entire world a good lesson. Even the cricketers of Srilanka had no escape. The poor Pakistanis have no other alternative but to find fault with them which seems to be practically impossible. The government has started a countrywide onslaught on political activists.
Hundreds of people have been arrested who joined the long march announced by the opposition leaders keeping Mr. Nawaz Sharif and some others in the front. None knows how far and how vast the Pakistanis are to pay in future to hold the flag of democracy aloft. Will they have any chance in the near future? Let us hope for the best. After all both the countries are individually as good as ours ‘a friend in need is a friend indeed’.

Democracy should always be inspiring. Since it has been established by the people, of the people and for the people (Do I make any mistake? Get it corrected, please)there is very little chance of going astray.
Unfortunately, we find just the reverse everywhere. After independence we have had enough scope to rectify ourselves. Now it is high time to pay heed to such grievances. O yes, it is the duty of every citizen of democratic countries around the globe.
Why should we elect some immature persons in the fore to represent us every time just to leave ourselves in the lurch ?
With warm regards,
A. Prosad.
