Could you please hold the steering to pick up two Nobel Laureates?

(I don’t know if there’s any picture to highlight Dr. Manmohan Singh who seems to many of us as the right candidate on Economics when it goes to “Economic Governance”.)

Unambiguously, I am interested in the achievements of Barack Obama, US President and Dr. Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India. My unwanted nomination for the former one is for Nobel Peace Prize and that for the later one on Economics.

During Presidential election you watched Obama closely. We realized there after the applicability of his ideas and intentions. He came out victorious as the first black President of USA to make the most of what he long cherished at heart. We all know, he feels more comfortable being addressed—President of the USA who happens to be black. Possibly, from this viewpoint his vision was motivated.

Now let us look towards Manmohan, who has retained the position of Prime Minister of India for the second term. As one of the distinguished Economist he started his career. Out and out an honest and industrious person; gradually he dedicated his life for the good of humankind. In 1991 as the Finance Minister of India he served our country in the best possible way. Indian Economy once was pitiful. He raised its status. We gratefully acknowledge his sagacity.

In 2008 US economy had to face serious recession. It was problems to most of the countries. How abruptly Obama controlled that! He took up quandary related to health care, unemployment, etc. meeting crisis face to face in his administration. He thought about world terrorism, the solution of which would bring about tranquility. There lies the subtlety of his humanitarian character. He realized that peace can never be attained unless fundamentalists are governed.

Manmohan became India’s Prime Minister for the second time. Earlier counteracting terrorism in Mumbai, signing nuclear deal and world wide recession he placed him in the fore. As a great leader of a Developing country he was respected by the Statesmen all over the world–especially, by the great leaders of G-8. President Bush consulted him on economical problems. Again, Obama attached due importance and inclined to him for his economical sagacity. Recently, Dr. Singh’s prescription for G-20 has been widely accepted. Finally, when President of France exclaimed it as “Revolution”, the voice of other veteran leaders would have been earnestly whispered.

Obama’s attempt to eradicate fundamentalism, reflected boldly through his Cairo speech; help Pakistan with arms to fight against Taliban; initiate understanding between Israel and Palestine; remain indifferent in the latest situation of Iran; think stability in Iraq and Afghanistan and so many outstanding and critical problems that need to be resolved with priority. They should be watched and made known widely. Eventually, it’s all just to prove that Obama’s ultimate goal is nothing but world peace.

Dear Editor, is the car ready? The Nobel Laureates are waiting at the crossing of Urbane Avenue and Road to Eternity.

The Essay was ready a little earlier; on the October 08, 2009. In response to “Could you be The Washington Post’s next columnist”, I don’t think of submitting this Essay any more. On the 9 th instant a result has been published.

Congratulation Great Barack Hussin Obama!

But what about him of whom we thought so seriously? Again an Indian has just been deprived of the Nobel Prize in Economics. What’s your opinion, please?

Dr.Amarthya Sen was Indian...so I don’t think Dr. Manmohan Singh was deprived of Nobel Prize just because he is an Indian...

Dear Maya, Date - 14.10.09.

I beg to differ. Dr.Amartya Sen has long been in the USA. Perhaps you do not know the story behind his Nobel achievement. However, at present I shouldn’t go in detail. Would you kindly delve deep and know all by yourself?

I just add, please check the all time Nobel recipients. Most of them are from America. Dr. Manmohan Singh is no less than anybody in what I have suggested. So it is very unfortunate his being an Indian.

Regards,
Asokananda Prosad.
